SPRING PRINT: 2025

Submissions for the 2025 Spring Print Edition of Quarto Magazine are now open! Please note that this means submissions for Quarto Online are closed for the time being.

Quarto’s Spring Print is our annual print magazine where we publish nonfiction, fiction, poetry, and visual art pieces from current Columbia University and Barnard College undergraduates. The edition will be distributed to the Columbia community, complete with a launch party and reading.

SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Please send up to 12 pages of double-spaced prose (fiction or nonfiction) OR up to 3 poems OR 4 pieces of visual art to columbiaquarto@gmail.com. Total number of submissions across all genres may not exceed 5 pieces.*

  • Your email subject heading MUST be “Spring Print 2025 Submission” to be considered.

*Note: due to limited space and the importance of representing a diverse array of writers and artists, Quarto can ultimately only include a maximum of 2 pieces per contributor (regardless of genre) in the final Spring Print.

REQUIREMENTS TO SUBMIT:

  • All individual pieces of writing you are submitting must be in separate PDFs to maintain formatting. Attach all PDFs for submission in one email to us. Please do NOT include your name in any of the PDFs. If you’re submitting prose, double-spacing is required.

  • Please provide a title for each work, and specify in your submission (the body of your email) whether your work is fiction, nonfiction, or poetry.

  • Please specify any content warnings in your email body if applicable.

  • If you are submitting visual art, please make sure the image you submit is high quality and how you’d like the work to look in print, as our staff will evaluate visual art for publication as is. Please ensure you submit each visual art piece in its own document.

  • We are not able to accommodate edits or new versions of submissions after the deadline, so be sure that you send your piece(s) to us in the state that you are comfortable publishing.

  • Should any of your submissions become unavailable for any reason after submitting, please notify us via email ASAP. Quarto does not publish pieces in Spring Print which have previously been (or will be) published elsewhere.

  • This contest is only open to Columbia University and Barnard undergraduates, so please send us your work using your Columbia/Barnard email.

All writing submissions will be entered into our contest for the best works of poetry, fiction, and nonfiction in the print edition. Judges to be announced!

The submission deadline is 11:59 PM on Sunday, February 23rd. All submissions will be reviewed after this deadline. If you have any questions, please email columbiaquarto@gmail.com. We look forward to reading your work.
